Greetings,
If you are experiencing a black screen after pressing ‘Play on the launcher, please ensure that you have tried the following troubleshooting steps:
  • First of all, please be advised that the initial loading of the game can take some time depending on your system specifications. For higher end computers it can take anywhere up to 15 minutes for the first load to complete, for machines approaching or below our recommended minimum specifications it may take much longer. In order to allow initial loading to complete successfully, we would request that you refrain from clicking on the screen, or using the keyboard (including alt-tabbing away from the client to do something else on your system), as this can interfere with the process and generate misleading Windows error messages.
  • Please be aware about the system requirements of Star Wars: The Old Republic, especially if your graphic card supports 'Pixel-Shader 3.0' or higher.
  • Ensure that your graphics card drivers are updated. This issue is often as a result of having the 11.8 ATI drivers installed. If this is the case, updating to a later driver version can resolve the issue. For instructions on how to update your Graphics card please see here
  • You should make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX installed on your system. For further details please check here
  • You should check that you have the latest Service Pack and Windows Updates installed for your operating system, including optional updates such as .NET Framework and Visual C++ features.
  • Run the game as an administrator.
  • Make sure that you have added swtor.exe and launcher.exe as firewall exceptions.
  • Check that you do not have any unnecessary third party software running in the background which may interfere with the running of the game
  • You may need to play the game in windowed mode, or to adjust your in-game resolution to match your monitor.
A quick shortcut is to press Alt & Enter to toggle the game between Fullscreen and Windowed mode. This can specifically help those of you experiencing 'Out of Range' or 'Input not supported' error messages.
Some people may have to modify the default Fullscreen option. To do so, locate the client_settings.ini file.
Never modify this file if you are not experiencing this issue. Incorrect modification of this file can create problems with your client installation.
You can do so as follows:
    1. Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time. (The [Windows] key is the key with the Windows icon on it)
    2. Copy the following in to the text box and press ok: Users%USERNAME%AppDataLocalSWTORswtor
    3. Open the settings folder and delete the client_settings.ini file.
    4. Restart the game, this will recreate the file.
    5. Open the settings folder again and then client_settings.ini file in a text editor and modify the value FullScreen=true to FullScreen=false.
If you are still encountering this issue after checking all of the above, please contact Customer Support.
Please include a DXDiag of your system, your most recent client logs and a description of the exact error encountered.

Sep 04, 2018 Star Wars: KOTOR (Knight of the Old Republic) is a role-playing game set in the Star Wars universe. Developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts, the game was released for the Xbox on July 15, 2003, and for Microsoft Windows on November 19, 2003. KotOR Keyboard Controls Below is the complete set of keyboard commands available for use in Knights of the Old Republic. Mastering these keys can be the difference between beating some of the tougher opponents in the game with ease or heavy use of the pause option with tons of micromanagement. Viewscreens, also known as holoscreens, vidscreens, and rarely repeater displays,1 were telescreens used to project holographic moving images on HoloNet channels from across the galaxy. It would display holo-signals in, but, instead of projecting a three-dimensional image, images on a holoscreen would be shown like any normal screen in two-dimensional format with the exception of the weight.

  • I played through Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic but in some areas of the game I get graphics flickering in the environments. Also, when I see the names above enemies they are duplicated (the enemy name above them and another duplicate higher up the screen) and also flickering.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it? Note: I also played Kotor 2 and it ran just fine without any of these problems. I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling and it didn’t fix the problem.

I can not confirm what youre reporting, did the swoop bike race with great 3D too.

How is the 3D FOV enhancement value? If that is above the default settings lower it down to default, it can cause glitches in some games.

I have observed graphics drivers behaving differently with steamVR. May be changing to a lower/higher version might help with the black screen.

May be thats an openGL issue, i remember Unreal Tournament behaving similar. Another thing you can do check the VorpX HUD Settings and give the 3 sliders different values. If you can rename the executable of the game, do that, then try different Quake profiles , also try the Descent 2 and Star Wars: Jedi Knight II – Jedi Outcast profile with the game.

This is quite simple. Right click on a game in the local profile list, make a copy and add the renamed games exe to that profile “ADD” button. If a games exe has the same name that a local profile already has you will get an error message, therefore rename the games exe.

Star wars Kotor doesn't work on Windows 10 64 bit OS So i have a PC i built myself, originally I ran Windows XP home edition, Kotor worked flawlessly. I upgraded to Windows 7, installed a 1gb graphics card with an HDMI output and an extra 2 gb of ram and upgraded my cpu from a AMD athlon x2 to a phenom x4.
